In an effort to further my cataloging and notes, I'll be documenting the pots I own here. Ill include some notes about the potters, where I got the pot, and such. Ill omit price paid. Comments welcome, especially if potter or history is unknown. Would love to hear what people think would be best paired with these pots. My collection is small still, but since I add several pots a year, I expect the thread to grow. Im not including training pots or plastic/mica pots. I guess Ill include other displays and such too here.

First pot is one of two @Bob Hunter pots my wife bought me for Father's day this year.

It is a beautiful unglazed pot with a wide rough naturalesque ribbon through the middle. It would perfectly compliment junipers and pines and Im thinking of putting my smaller ERC in it next year.

Maybe Bob can give some additional details?

Mock up of the ERC in this pot. Position to move slightly left. Would give room for tree to grow out a bit.

This is the second @Bob Hunter pot from my wife for Father's day this year.

It is a glazed light blue with some white hints and darker glazing along the bottom ribbon. Wonderful little feet too. Not sure what will go in this yet. Will need to be a deciduous. Maybe something with contrasting leaves like a japanese maple or complimenting with white flowers.

Gorgeous pot!

This little mame pot has been in my office collecting dust. I dont remember where I got it. Maybe from @sorce, who sent me a few extras with a pot I bought from him a couple years ago. Its unmarked.

This one appears to be a blue celadon glaze. Celadons are translucent but much darker where glaze pools, typically iron oxide green but blues are also fairly traditional. They are so good at accentuating even slight changes in texture that even raw firing can hide. This pot is an ideal use for the style with a light/white clay body and the celadon pooling accentuates details. Gorgeous. The potter in me would love to see a picture of the bottom of this one.

I am enjoying the collection, excited to see what you add next. I am especially enjoying the texture on your pot by @HorseloverFat

Thank you. I don't know what it is, but its become second nature at any pottery show or sale that the first thing I do when handling handmade wares is look at the bottom. Maybe the care/detail of the bottom often the easiest way to assess overall quality quickly. Anything that catches my eye is the same: Pick up item with a finger over lid when applicable, flip over, look at foot then inspect the rest more closely. Mugs may be the exception, then you add observing handle feel before flipping. . . . I would be lying if I said I never accidently spilled the remainder of someone's drink on my own lap trying to look at the bottom of their cup...

Some new cheapo pots picked up at the club show yesterday. Got em all for $30.

1st, an unglazed oval. Brownish gray. About 6 or 7 inches wide.

A blue glazed rectangle. Have to be careful with the sides freezing on this because of the lip.
I am curious what about the lip of this pot causes you to worry about freezing? Selfish motives as I am a newb and am working toward getting my studio together to make my own pots.

The lip is concave so if it is completely filled with soil in the winter, and roots, and moisture and the pot freezes, there is no where for the material to expand.
