I was reading yesterday on another chatline (SA) that chojubai comes in red and white colors only.
Not true and here's the proof. It's a bigger bloom and leaves, exactly like the white then the smaller leaves and blooms of the red. Still it's a nice soft orange and i like it. Sorry for the soft focus.

I don't think that's chojubai, but I could be wrong the leaves look different from my red chojubais. Took this pic at night, put my ugly finger in there for scale. I have another red variety I can post a pic of tomorrow as well. Both types have this shape leaf though. Not to say there aren't orange chojubai there are, Jim has one for sale at natures way right now. The leaves look similar albeit slightly larger then a true reds. I believe what you have is a chaenomeles japonica speciosa equally as beautiful, just a bit different. I have an orange one of those as well and it loves to bloom it blooms all spring and summer.

It's chojubai. complements of the lone pine nursery in california who developed it. :)

I'm sure there's lots of diff varieties, line pines a reputable place. It looks like a big one do you have a pic of the whole tree. I heard some orange chojubai develop into reds as they age.

I heard about this sport three years ago. the nursery would not ship so i had to find a friend in the Koi hobby to get some starts and post them for me. I've never heard of such a thing as reverting back to red. :) they've bloomed this color every year...

wasn't too excited about posting a picture of the orange chojubai as it's the mother plant
that I use to create starts and not too attractive :)
