It it a Douglas fir.it was growing in a terrible spot with roots in a crack on side of hill in full shade. I already have it in a pot so I buried that. Reading up on the species and finding useful info.
So not being a pine what is a the category I should start a new thread on this tree in. It will just be sitting for a long time and it’s so warm I might as well grab like 5 more before they become part of a new road.

Any update on this tree? Did it wake up in the spring? (I didn't see any new threads about it in another forum) maybe there is another thread but I didn't see it, don't know?

This one did not make it? but a blue spruce and doug fir I have are doing killer. My Mugo is gong be be killer one day. The little Jack pine I grew from seed is in a false bottom pot that goes to a giant hollow in the big wood stand. Should be cool to have pot same size as trunk of tree in a number of years
