Alain,

It has been established that this tree is a Douglas fir. Look at the close up of the needles and buds in post #12 for confirmation.

Oh, OK then.

The leaves looked so greysish and thin and furled in, it could have been a juniper.

But maybe it's a not-so-healthy fir.

Good luck.

It it a Douglas fir.it was growing in a terrible spot with roots in a crack on side of hill in full shade. I already have it in a pot so I buried that. Reading up on the species and finding useful info.

So not being a pine what is a the category I should start a new thread on this tree in. It will just be sitting for a long time and it’s so warm I might as well grab like 5 more before they become part of a new road.

Grab a couple extra for me while you are at it! If they're going to be plowed over anyway you might as well save as many as you can!;)

You can go back to the Tree Forums category and start a dedicated thread for this tree under the Other Conifers sub- category.

This one did not make it? but a blue spruce and doug fir I have are doing killer. My Mugo is gong be be killer one day. The little Jack pine I grew from seed is in a false bottom pot that goes to a giant hollow in the big wood stand. Should be cool to have pot same size as trunk of tree in a number of years C14A70AF-D06B-4D0D-AAEE-BB1C25C1FC9B.jpeg6CB5972D-4CA2-47AC-84D1-5F9834F6E2E8.jpeg5F0DFE16-1AD3-495F-AB5D-0003EB236D27.jpegF27F77DC-FD7E-46FA-A53B-82F9BFC40F99.jpegF35FB68F-17D5-4816-B43A-D456B9B6BCD3.jpeg
