this screenshot comes from a Facebook discussion about misting collected junipers.

This comment seems to indicate that frequent but short mistings could actually make matter worse for a tree with compromised root system due to stomates opening when they shouldn't. I've never thought of that but it's got me wondering. Any thoughts?

I don't have experience with collected junipers. I have seen a issue of increased tip blight with some shimpaku starts from overhead watering here. Micro head sprayers, not mist, but really fine droplets. If i have a conifer that needs mist, often it's in a shady area as well. Not sure how that would effect stomates opening negatively.

I have always misted newly collected junipers whenever I have the chance during the day. If nothing else seems it would cool things down and at least slow transpiration rate. It's always short bursts though unless I decide something needs to spend time in the shroom house in more constant mist/humidity. I've never thought of this opening thing before.
