I'm curious too. Its native to Texas, and I don't think it needs cold to germinate. Got to do more research though. The website had a minimum 5$ order for seeds, so I decided to try two other species too! Are they good for bonsai? Who knows? But they looked cool in the photos!Im curious about the spiny hackberry! Love seeing different species being used.
I put them in my fridge. If it was earlier in the month, I'd try them outside, but I don't think it'll be cold long enough for them!Where are you storing them? did they stratify enough? I know you soaked them but they still need the necessary cold period to trigger germination.
Oooh, I'll have to take a look. Thank you so much!Dirr and Heuser say that most Celtis spp. benefit from three months' cold stratification. I also see that the seeds have not been removed from the dried fruit. Fruits can sometimes inhibit seed germination until either they decompose naturally or they're removed. If you enjoy growing trees from seed like I do, I recommend this book:
