Got these 3 beauties for a tenner each at a very weird nursery/driving range... idk. They had no tags and not much info, pieris japonica? Some sort of Chinese juniper, and some type of buxus? Anyone know more please share can add more pics.. Anyways what u all think?20210904_191534.jpg20210904_192601.jpg20210904_192755.jpg20210904_191613.jpg

Not bad for $10 each. Boxwood grow pretty slowly, so before you cut branches off to give it an initial styling, be sure of the shape you want. Good opportunity for a cascade bonsai with that juniper. Looks like it might be a Parson's juniper. I'm not familiar enough with the 3rd tree to give an opinion on that one.

Nice score! For 10$ you can go wild and not worry if mistakes are made.
nice trunk on that juniper. 👍

The 2nd one in the pic I'm pretty much sure of is a pieris japonica as you thought. I have 2 I've been growing in ground the last few years that I'll be putting into pots this spring that look just like yours.

Excellent any tips and id appreciate it . I got another one but dog broke it's last good branch. They are both in nursery containers I planned on mulching them up for over winter do you think that will be good or is planting directly in the ground a better way to go. Anyways thanks for the second opinion on i d.

Should be fine in the nursery pots until spring, best to leave them where they are. Originally mine were put it the ground as landscape material but then the wife wanted something different so I just moved them but now I want to pot them up to see what I can do with them as bonsai so waiting until spring. They must be pretty hardy since one of them was just laying on the ground after she dug it up for a complete year before I actually put it back into the ground last spring. It took off and grew over another foot and started filling back out with new growth. :)

Ohh and one thing I should point out is at least for mine they don't seem to back bud very much. Seems to get long growth but only flowers at the tips. Now since mine have just been growing wild I haven't cut them back to test this theory.
Reading up on Pieris Japonica, "Prune your Japanese Pieris immediately after the blossoms fade, generally around April" Pieris Japonica care I'm going to try this with mine in April.
Here is a pic of mine for reference...
