Yeah, I’ll keep posting these until no one looks anymore. But it’s winter, what else is there to look at? Actually I’m doing a Facebook page, but more later.

Table in progress. I wanted something simpler to build. No stringers and relatively easy legs (I’m getting better with the scroll saw), but I had to add a little bling to the top. Walnut and maple. Only 5x7 but I think it could scale up some and be ok.

The sketches.

The legs (always make an extra ...).

More to come ...

BTW thanks Giga. It was impolite of me to not accept a compliment graciously. And my wood does not get the compliments it used to ... ?

I got this glued up and sanded last night. Really happy with it, especially considering how simple it is. 78353B5C-87C4-4890-A4D4-84B2185C6701.jpeg

Needs varnish, but I don’t think I want to use my usual
Tung oil even though I’m getting more consistent in my results, because it tends to give unstained walnut a yellowish cast that looks jaundiced to me. So I may try nitrocellulose spray. We will see how this goes.

Want to make a bigger version of this, maybe 7x9. Last night
we came up with some interesting ideas for variations I want to try as well as some cool altogether new designs.

A hand rubbed oil finish is still my favorite - never noticed the 'jaundiced effect'.

Regardless, nice stand! ???

Thanks, and yeah I like that kind of finish too. I’ll never go to say a urethane. But I want to keep the nice chocolate brown look. Maybe try linseed oil too. Need to review advice others have given in some previous threads. I got options.

That is very nice, well done!
Those feet are cool, I have a scroll saw that I have never used really but that is a top idea.

If you have never used a scroll saw I’m guessing you will find making those legs a bit challenging! But perhaps not. They are a lot of fun, I’m sure of that. When you are done with all four cuts needed you get to peel away the scrap for the leg hidden inside.

Some finished pics

This is with two light coats of satin lacquer lightly sanded and buffed down to 2000 grit. I’m fairly happy with the result. The color is still a nice chocolate brown and there is a nice subtle sheen.
