New Field Maple Stump

Hi Bnuts!

I have bought another stump. I would like some guidance as to whether my ideas will work or not as it is the first time working with Field Maple.

My plan is to Air layer the trunk to shorten it and delete the reverse taper. I then plan to carve out the back (the front is already carved). And then either leave it or push the "V fork" together. Only the back side will meet and therefore hopefully set to introduce some more taper.

As always any other ideas are extemely welcome.

its a poor piece of material. you have a plan laid out though, why dont you give it a try and see how it turns out, what do you have to lose?
you dont need permission to work it. work it and enjoy, feck what anyone thinks.
