Howdy nuts!
I was out antiquing yesterday and came across a pile of rusty tin snips and these were with them for $5
A pair of Wiss C4A bent blade thinning shears. I didn't know what they were when I got them, I just liked the shape and the patina shows its high grade steel.

The blades were bent away from each other and it had a few flakes of old black paint on the handles. I cleaned it up dropped it in paint stripper then soaked it overnight in marvel mystery oil. I bent the blades back together with a C clamp and gave them a bit of sharpening and tightening and they are back in action! I may stitch leather grips or just half hitch some waxed thread handles.
Have a great day guys! Keep your eyes out for cool stuff :-)

It should also be said if these were made pre 1850 (which they weren't) they would have been sharpened on a wheel powered by a Saint Bernard on a treadmill...

Wish I could find a pair of those intact; they used to be
quite useful in the garden/greenhouses of the past. Only
used a pair once and they do reach "that" spot for a tight cut.

Aw shucks thanks everybody! I appreciate you all taking the time to stop in :)

I'm just happy I could pick up a nice tool with some character on the cheap!

@armetisius I saw a pair in amazing shape in the box on eBay in the $20 range, I don't remember if they were bent or straight though.

Happy hunting!

I think I will try a pair of the newer ones that are out there. Just
wish they didn't look so shoddy. Around 8 bucks so who cares?
