I started in bonsai in 1994, before you could reliably see or share photos on the internet, so I relied on my Bonsai Today subscription to arrive in my mailbox every couple months to see the latest installment of what this guy, Kimura, was up to.

The latest masterclass is a fantastic evolution of the distribution of techniques and gives the viewer an opportunity to watch over the master’s shoulder while he transforms a massive black pine into a very Kimura-esque bonsai. The second section shows him preparing a large Hinoki cypress for the Kokufu-ten exhibition.

I think this part really sets bonsai empire apart from the rest of the online schools. Especially since some platforms either have had serious downtime, or stopped producing new material all together.
