here is a juniper I dug from my grandparents bank more than 6 years ago,
I haven't done anything to it other than work on the roots and repot it every few years.
The shape of the tree is rather straight and I'm not sure where to go with it as far as styling.
Maybe I should let it grow out for a few more years as it doesn't have much foliage to work with.
any comments/advice are appreciated.

There you go!

Doesnt seem like that much foilage for 6 years.

I think you can use a much wider pot.
Or training basket.
It looks healthy, just small roots!

Nice for a first bro, I dig it!

thanks! I did cut alot of foliage off a few years ago and putting it in a small pot probably slowed it way down.
maybe Ill put it in a pond basket or colander next spring and see if it improves.

Looks like it could use a bigger head of green before you do a hard wire/style. If I was styling I would get jiggy with the top branch as your dynamo line. apply the wire perfect and really kink it up. I'd do the same with everything--even though the other branches might go some day.

It should have backbudding all along the trunk and crotches where it's exposed to sun. I think you need to get it into a slightly larger pot or pond basket with some coarser soil so you can up your watering and fertilizing. Once it's growing more you'll have a lot more options on where to take it.

I think your right this sounds like the direction to go thanks!
