I need help with a tree ID I saw at a resturant in cartersvi)e GA.

Looks like Locust. Was there any thorns on the branches? Not all locust have thorns though.
 
No thorns. I'll research locust trees pitoon. I think you may have named it for me .
 
The leaves and bark look like Robinia.
There are several species but R. pseudoacacia, AKA black locust, is the one I know down here, esp in hotter, drier areas. It can sucker profusely and some old, abandoned rural house sites have become a dense mass of stems.
I've seen some people try to use these as bonsai but they don't seem to ramify well so I would not bother, esp if you have to start from seed. Compound leaves are also large and difficult to reduce.
So many better plants to work with
 
Believe leaflets alternate, too many on stem for locust. Leaflets in opposite pairs and fewer than these on Locust.
