Good write up, great story, but man I could have gone without that last picture.

if you look a little harder you can get them in stainless steel, wire form with a fused on stand for about the same price.
Additionally, you can also get them as stainless steel, perforated rice strainers, for just 2 US $ more.
The folded idea, was apparently around since 1950 or so, but apparently never became popular.

Good call on the hem, even if you have tough fingers, you will get ripped up. And when you scale up to 100' rolls or longer, you will really save money. I always walk through the big box stores and keep my eye on the HW clothe. One time I got a 100' roll of stainless screen wire for under 10$. It was crazy.
Do you think a fine screen wire size will be okay as an air pot? I always knew I could make one, but I thought the fine mesh would not really let the roots through and thus not prune them.
