Native local tree spruce pine? Bonsai material.

So strolling around my house (I literally live in a pine forest) this tree caught my eye versus most other pines. It has very short needles compared to the rest of the pines.bim assuming I could air layer it and attempt bonsai? Good thing is I'll have infinite amount of tries at it lol. Most branches looked very very similar but the next to last picture was one that caught my attention that maybe my first attempt. I have rooting powder and soil obviously. I also took some little seedlings that were directly under the tree and planned on letting them grow but there is no telling if it will be the same as there are a multitude of pines around but there were directly under this one.

I am also new to the site. If you could provide photos of the trunk, and tell the general height and shape? It does seem to have needles that would work well for bonsai, and the color of green is nice. I'm not familiar with a lot of species of conifer. Living in the desert, we have a few juniper (I Really want an alligator juniper, Juniperus deppeana) and piñon. What part of the world do you live? These answers will help with identification.

Most pines don't air layer well.
Your best bet is trying to grow the seedlings.
Be careful the soil you have them in currently could stay very wet and they won't like that.
