Here is my newly acquired Bougie that I couldn't dig
out of the stinky alley behind my new Job Site at a
Bar in downtown.

I design Bars/Restaurants, as well as do Murals, Signs, etc...
and was finishing up my day today when the fire sprinkler
guys were busy outside trying to figure out how to go about
removing this from the ground in front of their shut off valves
in the back alley...

It had been concreted in around it and they said they had been
cutting it back for years and were now just going to chain it off
and yank it out with their truck.

I told them I would cut it out and take it home with me...
That I would wrap it in sphagnum moss and it would start shooting
out roots in no time. They kinda laughed at me and figured why not,
seeing that they wouldn't have to do any work to remove it !!!

Two minutes later I had it cut flush with the level of the concrete,
and then thanked them for saving me $300-$500 dollars that I would
of had to spend on a trunk this size !!!

Fastest money I ever Made !!!
Ignorance isn't bliss, in this case it's just ignorance...

Fabulous find...

Excellent material and great short story. I like a good story. I hope the tree does extremely well in your care.

Even if it doesn't sprout you could make a lamp out of it...

Nice find. I've never tried that treatment with a bougie, I think the biggest cutting I took back in the Phils. is about 2" dia x 8" long.

Good luck!!! :)

Wrapping Bougies with Sphagnum Moss is pretty much a guaranteed result...
Down side though, is that you gotta try and dig the moss back out of the
roots when it takes off...
:)

Oh also wanted to add, that I wish they had left a couple
of the trunks on the right side longer... to help a little with
the taper transition, but unfortunately the sprinkler guys
had already made all of these cuts and choices for me !!!
:)
