a, well, a quince. I was out watering and noticed that the quince had made fruit, the first time since I have had it. Anyway, I thought it was kinda cool.

Cute.

I always remove the flowers on mine once they start wilting so I never knew if they would have bare fruit. :D

Seeing this, I would like to know now but too late. All flowers are done. I'll see next year. :)

Just be aware that letting your quince bear fruit will really weaken the vigor of the tree. I've done it on mine with two different varieties (one I just didn't notice), and the vigor of both was really diminished. I don't find that flowers weaken quince all that much, but the fruit definitely seems to.

I am guessing he has a few to play with and honest it is pretty cool to see your tree fruit ;) I enjoyed the pictures.

interesting;y enough, my yard is full of quince in the ground. They fruit like cracy and seem to do no harm to themselves. I do agree that those in pots are better off not dealing with the drain on resources. I do on ocassion allow some of my chojubai and toyo's to raise one a tree. :)

Thanks for the comments, I just thought that is was cool. I used to have a calamondin orange that made small oranges, but I left it out in the cold one to many times. I have another started.

This is my one and only quince. I plan to just leave the fruit on there and see what happens. I think that if the tree is healthy, it will not harm it, it is what it is supposed to do anyway. I have the same philosophy about azaleas, if it is healthy, let it bloom.

Thanks,

John

I think it is worth to let the fruit grow since we can get an interesting flower seedling from that. I am letting a couple of fruits on my Nichi-Getsu-Sei quince growth at this time.
