What would make my Jade plant want to take the summer off? After two years of crazy growth, a bunch of clip and grow this guy just seemingly sat dormant all summer. I had all kinds of activity's planned for it but it never grew an inch, It looks the same right now as it did in the beginning of the summer, no change whatsoever. After a few years of explosive growth I thought I would wear out a pair of scissors on it this year but nothing, never made one single clip on it, it's been out side in full sun all summer.

I don't know what's up, but my large-leaf Jade also took the summer off. It usually loves being outside in the sun, but thus year it just sat there. My summer was extremely hot, wonder if that had anything to do with it.

What changed from last year? Location? Soil?

What’s your fertilizer schedule look like?

West Michigan and extremely hot go together? What was the highest temp you got this summer?

Nothing I can think of, I started out giving alternating between miracle grow one week and organic fish fert the next in the beginning of the sumer but soon quit giving this jade any fertilizer at all when I realized it wasn't growing. Watering schedule about the same as before, inorganic soil and water anywhere from every day to every three days.

I'd give less sun until its hydrated, save it from the afternoon heat.
Soil looks chunky and with having no real sides to the basket even wind would be drying it out.
Also I hope it not sitting directly on concrete like a heat sink.

Looks really thirsty and I imagine in a pond basket it dries out pretty quickly. I’ve found that these guys like to be watered more than people seem to lead on. I watered mine pretty much daily during summer.

If the night temps are above 80 a potted plant is so busy respirating it cant make new growth. Not sure about up there but it's finally over here so we get a second growth period until late december.
I am always surprised by the sudden increase in water needs as soon as humidity gets lower.

OK OK you guys! We had a prolonged spell of upper 90's F and no rain. That is considered extremely hot for here. I know it's nothing like Texas or Arizona, but for me and my trees it was not anything like we are acclimated to. (I did consider calling FEMA LOL)
