The Winter Silhouette Show is getting better and better! Not so many trees this year but some very nice ones. Certainly the best people turn out from of any of the previous 9. Perhaps I missed it but I didn't see anyone post pics of my full display. I like to go outside of traditional Japanese style display. IMG_9595.jpg

I really enjoyed your display, it was the only BC at the show, and a very nice one at that! Your elm and trident groups are very nice, I enjoy the naturalness of them.

Great stuff. Thanks for posting John.

I love it. It reminds me of some times when hiking in the hills or mountains...there is a tree in front of me, I look to the left and there are some trees on a cliffside 200 ft away, and to the right and off in the distance there is another group of trees on a little hill top.

John, I should have taken the time to talk to you more. I didn't know you were a b nutter. I was majorly impressed with all of your display. I thought the winged elm planting was one of the best elm plantings on display. You did catch me more than once drooling on your trees and I wish I had spoken up more.
All of your trees were an inspiration. Well done.

All very nice! The winged elm composition is particularly interesting. It reminds me of a Rocky outcropping or island

Love the trees and rock/pot/slab. If it were me, I would have put all three directly on the black cuboids, without any suiban or stand. Maybe I'm overly minimalistic?

While they are all great, I am very enamored with your elm composition. Amazing stone, and top notch work to go with it.

That last forest planting, looks like treebeard strikes back.

Edit: actually, looks like a fangorn class destroyer.

Great composition.

LOVE that trident maple forest. I think it perfectly captures the essence of a forest and I can picture myself in the winter standing right in the middle of it looking up. Great work!

Well done display! It was finally nice to put a face to a name. Looking forward to next year.

Very nice display John!

It looks to me like three separate landscapes that could exist together in nature, but deconstructed, well done sir.

Do you have pictures of these three displays with foliage? I’d love to see more of these. Also, how long have you had your BC. Did you develop it from scratch or was it a purchased tree? I enjoy the fact that it’s not a huge BC, it dosent have that classic BC trunk flare and it looks like a tree I would see in nature. It’s very nicely executed tree.

Thanks friend!

Hey Friend! Thank you sir! I enjoyed meeting and talking with you. I hope to find something interesting for the container I got from you.

Imagining yourself in a composition is pretty high praise in my book! Thank you!!

Thanks Mike! I appreciate the kind words...I would like to think that many of my compositions are inspired by places I've been and seen.

Thank you sir! It was nice to meet you and talk for a little bit. Your little pots are very nice... just well out of my price range for the small stuff. Maybe next time!
