I've mentioned this tree a couple times. My digital caliper is missing, but I think it's a little small to put in the maple contest. I'm making this thread to show its progression regardless.
I bought this last year. The plant was slipped out of the nursery container. The sides of the rootball were scraped so some of the roots were exposed and it was slipped into a slightly wider container with some soil back filled in the edges.
Up until now it has only been watered and fertilized aside from two attempted air layers that didn't take. Today I chopped the trunk down. I left a little more length to anticipate some dieback on the trunk.
