Mixing soils

I figured that with many of us either have begun repotting or are getting ready too.
Just a quit tip that my father taught me when mixing large quantities of paint. It is called "boxing".
I usually would measure out my soil components by number of scoops of each. 5 of this, 3 of that and a couple of those.
The problem was to get the stuff on the bottom mixed with the stuff on the top!
Then it hit me. The old trick my dad taught me!
Using two 5 gallon buckets, put your soil components in one all at once. Don't worry about them being mixed! Now start pouring them back and forth between the two buckets. Within 4-6 times of doing this, the components will be equally mixed and homogeneous.

That only works with materials that have the same or similar gravity, weight, texture, et al.
 
I just use one of those big mortar tubs and a big scoop. It's pretty easy to get around all the edges and the bottom to mix it thoroughly.
