Hi fellow bonsai enthusiasts. I need some help with my two bonsai trees. One trident maple and other japanes maple. Some pest is eating away the leaves of my trees and leaving holes and cutts on the leaves. I have seen a really small white insect of some kind and see webs on my trees too. Posting pictures of the damaged leaves so anyone can help me with any pesticides that would help me with the problem.

This doesn't look like feeding damage to me.
Insects would leave rougher edges of half eaten material, scraped almost.
This to me looks like mechanical damage; leaves rubbing into one another and hitting branch tips, maybe even some hail damage.

In any event search the undersides of the leaves for black spots, eggs or larva.

If these are present, then a plan of action can be made.

Also, can you please post your approximate location and USDA Cold Hardiness Zone data on your icon. This will help us to quickly know these data as some areas have certain pests and others do not. To do so, please double tap your icon atop the page, then account details, scroll down and enter these data, then save,

Thank you and Happy Holidays

Hi mate, thanks for your response. Now that you have mentioned I can see that happening.

Hi mate, thanks for your response. I have checked under leaves and found no visible signs of eggs or larvae. Also, I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I have added the Cold Hardiness Zone to my profile.
Happy holidays to you as well
