I’ve read that a Japanese Maple is good in full sunlight as long as temperatures are below about 85f. Does anyone care to chime in about this? We’re having a bit of a heatwave, and I want to take any necessary precautions. Thanks in advance!

I've been keeping mine under dappled shade (dappled sun?) and it's doing ok so far, meaning, it's alive. When I had it out in the full sun back in June/July/August, it got crispy pretty fast. With all this dry air coming off the desert lately, I think that might even lower the max temp you'd want your maple in.

I'm no expert; would also like more info.

I’m in Westminster and little north of you. In summer, I can get away with full sun, as hot is it gets, to about 11am.
In the area of the yard mine is located, I lose sun in winter so they get about 3-4 hrs mid day sun. Not worried about it with the temps being in mid to high 80s at 3-4 hrs a day this week.

Is there a reason you are worried right now, they should be naked? Bark burn?
