Thread to document efforts to propagate Barbados Cherry malpighia glabra 'margarita'.

On 7/16 took several mostly softwood (slightly lignified) cuttings. I scratched the cambium and dipped in Clonex. Put in my regular soil and sealed in 1gal ziplock. (Same technique used successfully with escambron)

Now under 12 hr on 12 off light 40% intensity on my new spider farmer light.

I've never tried cuttings from my regular Barbados Cherry but cuttings from my Dwarf Barbados cherries take really easily.

This is a dwarf so I'm pretty excited. I have heard that it's easy. They are such great trees here

So two and a half weeks in and I am ready to do an update. I decided to take them out of the bag and have a look and here is what I saw.

I think we have roots, what do you all think?

I have been so busy that I neglected to post when I potted these in their individual pots. I had to cut them back as they were touching the grow light. That means they had grown about 8" in about 4 weeks or so. Anyway, I repotted these on 8/27/23 with 100% success rooting. Here's what the roots looked like.
