About two years ago I discovered this in the back of a small-town hardware store. The soil only came about halfway up the 3gal nursery pot that it was potted in, which created a nice environment for lots of surface and aerial roots. I squeezed it into this unglazed pot shortly after I got it, and it is now on its second winter in a grow tent under LED's. You can see from the coloration of the new leaves that the light intensity is working pretty well. Future plan, I think I will prune low growth to encourage a taller, wider canopy, and probably give it a wider, shallower pot. Stay tuned for future updates.

Sweet find! I have a younger shohin/starter one that I've been staring at for six months or so. Going to let it grow for awhile. Still scratching my head trying to picture this "hardware store". :)

It was a little town full of contractors, so the store was locally owned but about the size of a typical Ace Hardware. They tried to show a softer side with a little gifts and crafts section, including a sad collection of houseplants nobody looked at much.
