I wonder if the left over stump will send shoots? If so I'd consider sticking it in the yard and letting it grow wild for future cuttings or layers

Yes the stump could potentially send shoots. No harm in sticking it in the yard and seeing if anything sprouts!

Yes. I added cut paste. Something I don’t do all the time, but this one i really like, so I did.
