Little “little sango-kaku” ground layer success

I wonder if the left over stump will send shoots? If so I'd consider sticking it in the yard and letting it grow wild for future cuttings or layers
 
This looks incredible. Saving so I know what success looks like if I ever give this technique a try.

Do you do anything to treat the stump cut on the bottom?

Yes. I added cut paste. Something I don’t do all the time, but this one i really like, so I did.
