Kokufu-ten 2023 Japan and Bonsai Gardens Tour, including shopping at Tokoname with Bill Valvanis

Bill and Kora are personal friends with Kobayashi, and word is they give the best tours with behind the scenes looks. And being a 10 or less group sounds personable to boot. :) Nao and I visited Kobayashi prepandemic and he is the nicest guy (gave us a signed amazing calendar lol). Omiya Village is so fun to visit too, lots of amazing bonsai pottery. The material and tools and everything for sale in Japan is on a whole other level.

Nao mentioned to me that the Ueno Green Club building is the one that a Fall shohin show takes place in. We have attended the November shohin show a couple times, and the vendor sales area was the outside area for trees and plant material and the alcove for tools and other accents, so for the entire three story building *and* the exterior to be full of vendors will be some serously mind blowing shopping. The tour is a really good value with lodging and transportation taken care of (which imo is the fiddliest part of figuring out travel in japan).
