Does anyone have any advice on how best to deal with this tree it is a Katsura tree Cercidiphyllum japonicum. Not a Katsura Maple. The 2 big trunks have died off. There were 3 trees in the pot when I got it last yr but one of the smaller ones was dead so i removed it... So now has the big tree with the 2 dead trunks and 1 live trunk and the small tree to the side still alive. Katsura trees have basically what looks like a Redbud Tree shaped leaf and are fairly large leaves. Looking for advice on how to carve back the dead trunks of if i should just pull the smaller tree out and use it as a seperate tree. Open for any suggestions.

I would just use the smaller tree. Although small, it has character. The other growth is just sucker growth without a lot of interest.

All I can tell you is that the leaves can reduce quite a lot. I have seen it with my own eyes multiple times. I know it’s not helpful but at least you know the potential is there, If you didn’t already know. Have never grown them but absolutely love them as mature trees
