Juniper - Windswept Style attempt (to pot or not)

I collected this juniper in 2023 and after first cleaning let it rest for most of 2024. I decided I was going to start styling it into a windswept and while it has a long way to go I've never repotted it (just split potted into a growing basket) I'm wondering if it is strong enough to be put into a semi deep bonsai pot? I need a lot of backbudding this season to make progress. Would you leave it to continue to strengthen or actually work on the roots?

Oh, and I really don't mind styling advice. I know more edits are required but wanted to leave some material for the future.

Keep it in the basket and get it growing vigorously in order to get enough energy for backbudding. Then pray it will oblige.

If it's growing well and if you still need further development I'd let it be.
It's all very well to want a 'bonsai' pot but is setting progress back a couple of years worth it?
