Hello all,

I purchased a few years ago a nice looking juniper bonsai from home depot. It has been thriving for the last few years. i need to prune it constantly in the summer. i also keep it outdoors with mulch to protect in winter.

Questions though do i ever need to do a soil change? I fertilize with bonsai fertilizer i brought at this bonsai store i went to. looks like miracle grow though lol

If you bought it t home depot you are going to want to get it into a good bonsai soil mix. Smething that drains well. I will let the more knowledgable people chime in, but depending on where you are, it is probably the right time of year to repot. I also believe you don't want to change all of the soil at once so as not to shock it, but I will again defer to the more experienced folks here.

The fact that you kept it alive and growing indoors for over 2 years puts you in the 1 in about a 125 catagory. Good for you! ( Junipers just don't grow inside unless conditions are juuuuuuuust right)

I missed where he said he was doing this inside...

he states that he mulches it in the winter... doubt hes doing that indoors...

Sounds like an outdoor tree to me.
