Hello everyone,

I have recently acquired a juniper procumbens from a family member and it is in pretty bad shape. A lot of the branches have died off about half way. What I am wondering is if I cut it back to where it is hardly alive, will it start new shoots of the branches? This would be my first juniper procumbens and just looking for a little insight .The branches are very "scraggly" and looks like its under a lot of stress. The tree itself has some very nice movement which is a plus! :)

Thank you.

I can't tell much from the picture, but before you do any pruning, get it back to health. Careful watering and a little fertilizer would be my first order of business. Maybe repotting this fall if the tree looks a little better.

ah sorry if the pictures aren't that great. Just a lot of dead branches. I will just give it some care and see how it goes.
