Juniper nursery repotting timing

The majority of my trees are native collected trees but have dabbled in a few evergreens this summer for the first time. Bought this juniper yesterday. Only trimmed off one bigger root close to soil line and Only removed %25 of foliage. Just curious, how late in summer can I do this kind of work? Only have $12 in juniper like these. Having fun doing these, just wanted some thoughts on how late is too late.
