I've always been fascinated with bonsai but never bought any or practiced it. Well, after a trip to a regional garden tour, I said why not. I just learned to do pottery and I've always loved gardening, why not give this a shot. I'm lucky that there is a bonsai nursery near me so my wife and I signed up for an intro class. I'm on the fence getting tools prior to the class or afterwards. I know they sell tools and such there but I don't know of the quality. The owner even founded a bonsai club about 32 years ago, so it's established. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it, I just wish I would have started sooner.

Hey welcome! Once you get bit by the bonsai bug watch out. You can't have just one... and be prepared for a whole new world of a lifetime pursuit. Enjoy the journey and the lessons you'll learn about trees, nature and yourself along the way!

I’m also new, been in it since 2021 now. I have 25 trees already, and initially just wanted 5-10.

Now, I see potential material on the side of the road, and visit garden stores in new cities 😂

You don’t need fancy bonsai tools, but getting nice things can encourage work. Patience is probably the most valuable tool.

Welcome to the hobby!
