So I have some Acer palmatum matsumurae Shigitatsu Sawa seeds coming out of stratification next week. I am in zone 5 and realize summer here is ending on another month and a half. Are there any extra precautions I should take for their dormancy since they will be tender seedlings?

No expert but this late in the year I wonder if they would do best indoors under grow lights till spring. If you have many maybe do 50% outdoors 50% under grow lights.

I agree with b3bowen I also put plastic bags over mine at night to keep them from the freezing wind.

I will research indoor growing. My basement gets cooler in the winter months, but I haven’t temp checked it. so I can try to do a semi dormancy with grow lights. It has a western facing window. Thanks for the advice
