This guy is ready for a pot. I'm not sure on the id but I'm pretty sure it's Euonymus japonicus . or at least some sort of Euonymus. The bark once cleaned is a deep red(Havn't cleaned it in a couple years) What would be a good pot for this guy-I'm really at a loss since it's kinda unique. It's also super heavy and about 16" across.

I know absolutely nothing about the species...would love to see another photo taken at eye level so I could get a better look at the trunk and Nebari. I like gnarly roots...so it does intrigue me.

I like those roots too.

I think you may have to get a pot made for this one. Something interesting.

Will you tilt it at all to slant that staight trunk?

Nice.

Wow those are some.... awful looking roots. I'm sorry but when I look at this tree I can't see nothing but those roots.

Yeah it will be titled a bit to offset the trunk as well as further canopy development has im working on branch selection right now, I was just working on getting vigor up to this point . What do think is a good color and shape? And I'll get a better shot for ya.

Would you say your rooted in your thoughts on this? I was walking through our neighborhood with my family, and came across a guy redoing his yard. He dug about about eight of these guys and this was the only one I could carry( it was around 60lbs!) all the rest were too large. Since he didn't want them, in hind sight I should have got back with my car. My wife absolutely loves this tree, and I love the fact that it so crazy. When i repot it this spring I may remove a root or two but it'll stay the way it looks.

I wouldnt remove that small root that crosses left to right, seems it will fuse soon enough.

The other one maybe.

Harry on bonsai4me.com has pots made as a continuation of the tree. (A little too much IMO) but it may be nice for this one.

Anything to make the roots stand out more!

Yeah it's a nice, crazy tree. It's hard to show the tree's details with pics, but it's very sumo and really thick. Since it's an evergreen I'm trying to just study to find some sort of plan for it. I may just wait and put it in some sort of pot this spring and just let it grow and make some minor branch selection for now

another tree I forgot about. It just got defoliated a few days ago and some light wire. Next spring it will get a pot and a full wire, and maybe some good carving soon.
