I'm positive this isn't an original-to-me idea, but I'd donate to the cause to get matching pots to put each of these sets of roots in their own pot. That might be too gimmicky though. I really like this tree. You're doing well by it.

I’ve considered doing something similar to what you proposed, putting each root mass into pieces of a large yamaaki that broke during the snow storm catastrophe I experienced back in Georgia. I never did it, because I was concerned about the edges of the root mass that was not up against the pot wall drying out, and the idea of moving the tree, which is very wide, with two separate pots convinced me not to do it.
