16” high. Shallow 24” box has a good base flare going at about 4” beneath soil line. Trunk is about 2”. Chopped about 1.5 years ago. Calloused about 20%. Ready for new leader selection. Well established in wood box. Will have zero issues. Light top dressing of gypsum a few times a year to counteract our water chemistry here in 10b. Headed to a cold state which will likely shock and kill it. Still thinking on saving and taking it. Local Orange County, CA pickup.

Make a fair offer if interested. Consider the price of a 15 gal Acer at a big box store/nursery plus a few years of care. Come by and see it plus a few other things. Pre bonsai early - ever bearing black dwarf mulberry, mame/shohin pre bonsai portulacaria, small young liquidambar and ginkgo forests…nothing big money or near finished but may be something to add to your collection and work on.

Do you have other Japanese maples beside this one. I live in San Gabriel it pretty close OC. Thank you let me know

How soon are you leaving? I'm outside of Palm Springs until April and might be interested in the tree. I personally would repot the tree now and take it with. I do all of my repotting in November (in Seattle) without any problems. Your biggest concern in MT will be that you will have many false starts to spring. Once the JMs start leafing, they become especially vulnerable to freezes, so you'll want to try to keep it dormant for as long as possible or at least have someplace that it can move inside for those late season freezes. This is pretty much true for the entirety of the front range of the Rockies.

I live in Hacienda Heights. Very close to Orange County. If you still have that tree and any others, I am interested in buying. Please pm me at 626 826 6250. Barry Altshule
