Hello,
Acquired this one last week. Not really happy with taper but loved the truck and surface roots aas well as the movement in the branches.
Here's how it looks from 4 sides

Front shows the taper the least i believe but it's still shows. I'm.consodering carving out that front branch that's causing the taper and then my left branch would be the first branch or I can take that out as well which might make the tree look a bit too high for the short trunk. There is a new bud at right side at level of first left branch which I can develop.into first branch as well and I can play with two branches on left side to have it higher or lower than first right branch I create.
Another option is using another angle like this pic taken from.45 degrees from right side to have this for front. And take out that first branch and carve trunk to take out taper, problem.is it's a really nice trunk texture and I dont want to mess it up.

Appreciate ur suggestions or comments

Love the bark on these Buxus harlandii. Another great feature is that they will bud all over after pruning so you can remove any branches and cut back and be sure that new shoots will develop for future styling options.

The bark is exactly what made me take it. Seller had couple.larger ones with nicer trees but those had worse taper issues.
Would u cut that branche and work the wood or how would u proceed. Also if I cut a branch any chance of saving that branch and working on it as we do t get those here.
Thanks

It is always difficult to offer good advice based on a few photos because it is hard to get a good feel for the real 3D movement in the trunks and branches. My initial feeling is to pick one good trunk line that offers the best taper and bends and cut off all other branches and trunks - start off with just a bare trunk if you need to. Based on the ones I have here I'm confident you would get new buds all over and could then select shoots for branches in the best places. Maybe I would say different if I could hold the tree and see it.
Any pieces you cut off can be put in as cuttings. Smaller cuttings root very easily. I have some almost finger thick pieces in as cuttings now and they have started to make new roots.
