Jalapeño Bonsai

Anyone else trying to turn a veggie from their garden into something? Saved my jalapeño plant last second from my vegetable garden a week or so ago. All the leaves were wilted from the cold. It’s back budding!!!! In my little heated greenhouse. Let’s see where this project goes! Lol

Nice trunk on that one! Super fun, I have two. One is a plant that a friend had bought shortly before he passed, I couldnt give it away. It did really well over that winter so I started a couple more chilis, both smaller leaf "birds eye" types.

They will never live as long as a redwood or an oak but they're super fun and good for creativity!

I have a banana pepper that I am aiming to have as a companion plant as a way to help build petina on one of my pots. I'll get a picture of it once it stops pouting about being in a bonsai pot and shows some good recovery growth.

All of the rest of my peppers get a mild bonsai treatment just to keep them tidy in my grow tent. Once outside in the spring, I just let them do their thing.

Here's the Ghost pepper I've been growing.
Here it was Oct 23rd pre hair cut and pepper removal (52 peppers to be exact) Crazy!.


Here it is after trimming Oct 23rd.


And here it is today. And @Hartinez must have a Hell-of a memory!!!

How old is that ghost pepper? I have heard that some varieties of pepper don't live very long (talking 5ish years give or take), but I haven't come across which ones those would be.

It will be 2 years in December. I have read the same about them being short lived. So we will see? Here’s the usual outdoors life expectancy I found online. It will be interesting to see if being well cared for as a Bonchi will change the lifespan?
