hi guys iv repotted my bonsais for the first time and 2 of them are losing there leaves is it normal after a repot or should i worry??? the 2 are a ficus and a Sageretia
i dont know its near the end of winter and start of spring and it had started growingIs this the proper time to repot tropical trees?
Yeah I thought you was meant to doing beginning of sping when it starts growing with it had done I know better for next time now thoThis is the wrong time of year to repot these kind of semi-tropicals. Hopefully they'll be ok, but in the future I suggest you wait until summer to repot these species. They should be in active growth with night time temperatures above 60F. They like it in a well drained dry mix, light on the organics. Repotting off season, while the plant is dormant, and into a moisture retentive mix invites root problems.

Thanks sorce hopefully it will be fineIt looks fine.....
It's said they drop leaves when moving and such.
I prune mine good when I move em in and out....to keep him from dropping leaves....it works.
I reckon it will help during repotting too!
No worries.

No it dosnt hold much water but because of that I'm watering it more I'll have to let it dry a bit more now only worrying thing was when I reported it the was loads of clay in the roots and it lost some roots with me trying to get rid of the clayYour soil still looks like it holds too much water. You really need to be careful and let them dry out between waterings.

To be clear do you mean dry on the surface or really dry?
hopefully thats all it isNot really dry, but don't keep watering while the surface of the soil is still wet.
OP's soil looks pretty wet and that it doesn't drain well, probably why the trees are dropping yellow leaves.
hopefully thats all it is![]()
