This is not normal. However, ficus is at times annoying with dropping leaves.
Any pics of the leave loss?

Provide warmth, do not let them dry out too much, humid arir. hope..

Is this the proper time to repot tropical trees?

its not a massive loss at the minute its droped about 12 leaves mabye a few more over a week and a few days they turn yellow and fall of if totched

Maverick,

next time wait until early summer. On my side [ Tropics ] trees are asleep. Will awaken end of February to March / April - we are back to 69 deg.F [ say 20 deg.C }
They would prefer 75 deg.F at night [ 10.00 p.m until 8.00 a.m. ]

You also need to understand that the Sageretia theesans is from zone 7 in China - zone 8 in a pot.
So it may help to test - on a rooted cutting - what it can handle outdoors in England.

Something odd about Sageretia [ we call it sparrow's plum ] if you interfere with it in October to April, it can die.
Especially if collected, the yard here has seeds coming up here and there - birds.
Good Day
Anthony

In my experience Sagarethias min temp is 7C, bellow that ,you can spot a damage on leafs after a couple hours of exposure.
Sagarethia repotted and dropping leafs while you can't keep it outside is most probably goner.

the Sagarethia and ficus are indoors the Sagarethia has only droped a few leaves and a few went brown its the ficus thats drop the most

It looks fine.....

It's said they drop leaves when moving and such.

I prune mine good when I move em in and out....to keep him from dropping leaves....it works.
I reckon it will help during repotting too!

No worries.

This is the wrong time of year to repot these kind of semi-tropicals. Hopefully they'll be ok, but in the future I suggest you wait until summer to repot these species. They should be in active growth with night time temperatures above 60F. They like it in a well drained dry mix, light on the organics. Repotting off season, while the plant is dormant, and into a moisture retentive mix invites root problems.

Your soil still looks like it holds too much water. You really need to be careful and let them dry out between waterings.

No it dosnt hold much water but because of that I'm watering it more I'll have to let it dry a bit more now only worrying thing was when I reported it the was loads of clay in the roots and it lost some roots with me trying to get rid of the clay

To be clear do you mean dry on the surface or really dry:confused:?

Not really dry, but don't keep watering while the surface of the soil is still wet.

OP's soil looks pretty wet and that it doesn't drain well, probably why the trees are dropping yellow leaves.

Normally it's fine.

My ficus did that (loose leaves that turned yellow and felt but otherwise looked healthy) as a reaction when I bought it, some sort of way to say 'f...y... for doing this to me' but was back on track no long after.
