Traveling for work for 6 days when we hit our first 90 F days. I checked out my irrigation system thoroughly, made sure everything was right. Tested function. Came back from my trip to this joint failure

Hopefully most will perk back up, but just goes to show that irrigation systems are reliable, until they aren't. And the failures are always unpredictable.

I am sorry my good man! I hope they will be OK.

Dealt with a similar failure last July in Central VA. No casualties but several crispy boys when I got back. Hopefully they bounce back and you even get some ramification.

So sorry! I've been traveling too - visiting mom in SoCal. Husband-powered irrigation system did OK although one beech seems to have been missed. Should pop back I would think.

to this joint failure
That was definitely a failure to glue the joint properly. There appears to be no primer or solvent cement and the pipe was never inserted to the full depth of the socket.
As far as testing goes, I have gone on a service call where a copper pipe joint in the attic had held full household water pressure (55-85 PSI) since the house was built (over 20+ years prior) despite having never been soldered. Then one day out of nowhere, it’s raining on the living room furniture.
