I think i got lucky..what are these?

A local nursery is closing down they had these on sale for $5 each, i dont know what they are but im assuming some sort of fruit tree. Pear maybe?

Guessing by bark and leaves say something in plum, cherry or apple(crabapple)pear family. For now consider twin trunk would be good for 1st tree with main trunk cut at suggested red line spot. Second tree is wonderful example of neglected abused tree becoming great subject for Bonsai and struck me as exposed root cascade with trunk taking off from what is left of early trunk. Drawing of tree made over exposed roots interesting and very unique has good possibility also.

That first one is nice and I think you are going in the right direction with it. I would clean up your chops better though. The edges look very rough. You want to take a sharp knife and recut them. They will heal much better.

Possibly Pyrus Calleryana? I like the first one as a twin trunk, but that may depend on the roots when you establish the best front. Second tree looks like a challenge, I would wait until winter to make any drastic decisions, a bit hard to see whats going on. Good pickup for the price, keep updated
