I am looking for a good systemic insect killer for my trees but everything I am finding also has a fertilizer. The ideal situation would be a insecticide/fungicide combo. No luck at the big box stores.

The company that makes Sevin makes one called 'Eight' that I've used on plants other than bonsai. It's safe for vegetables so I imagine it would be safe for your trees.

Malathion is available from Ortho which is sold at hardware stores. Bayer advanced tree care is Imidacloprid with a fungicide (so systemic insecticide and fugicide). I just used up my Isotox which I think is no longer available but may still be, it's also from Ortho, I think they changed the name, see third link below.

I would like a granular form. Is it ok to water the liquid into the soil at the proper ratio, maybe a little weaker?

The bayer Advanced is granular or can be had that way, I would stick to directions, they do a lot of research on this stuff and most likely aren't telling you to over do it.

I have used a granular made by Bonide called Systemic House Plant Insect Control. Active ingredient is imidacloprid. It worked on aphids for me.
