I can’t remember the name of an exceedingly twisted style of bonsai (not a traditional Japanese style)…

I thought I’d had information on it bookmarked, but apparently not. It’s like a Contorted Filbert as a style, way beyond your stereotypical old twisted juniper. I think it was created by some American guy? I want to say it was based on twisty live oaks or something like that, or at least the images on it reminded me of live oaks. I’ve only seen it mentioned on one website which led me to look into it months back… Anyone know what I’m talking about??
