I bought three ginseng ficus today because they're my favorite "bonsai". It gave me a horrible idea for a group planting.

For the record, I'm pretty sure every ginseng ficus is a total goober of a plant and is only a casual bonsai.

But they are my favorites. They're amazing and I love them. They make me smile everytime I see them.

I wanted to see what they look like planted in one container.

I love it. I am obsessed with these guys. So I had a wonderfully terribly awfully horribly ridiculous idea.

So I bought an 18 inch pot.

The ficus are going to break their chains and escape their Terra Cotta prisons.

I think I'll add a plant like lysimachia to fill the pot and dangle over the edge.

I know, this is only tangentially bonsai related. But you guys have totally inspired me to try a group planting.

I'm really excited for this.

Here's hoping the ficus are forgiving of my silly little idea!

Step 1: cuttings.

I took 5 cuttings and used rooting hormone.

Everyone chipped in.

Even Benji.

The Three Amigops supplied most of them, but I couldn't let my silly little shenanigan start without Benji's input.

So, with a real live start, my passion project has officially begun.
