I actually prefer to wire small trees over large ones. You can get a lot more movement in the branches
and my joints aren't sore the next day. However, I feel like I'm some posh person drinking a cup of tea
with my little finger stuck up in the air when I'm wiring them.

All joking aside, I use slightly different methods. Make sure your wire is small enough. Don't wire too heavily or too tightly - the small young growth bends and scars easily. Consider tools like needle-nosed pliers. And not joking - depending on your eyes use glasses or consider one of those large magnifying glasses with lighting that they sell for crafting use...
