It was suggested that I go out and get a nursery pot to grow this trident that I just got. Grabbed the pot yesterday while I was at work and had some down time in between transporting patients. It is 5.5 gallons and called a growers pot.

How deep should I bury the trident in the soil?

Picture for reference of its size.

the highest roots you want to keep should have maybe a half inch of substrate over them.

Keep in mind when planting for growing out that you need to spreak the roots out and ensure non are tangled around eachoter or the trunk. Think solar ray pattern radiating from the trunk. As it is already in leaf, you might have to be gentle.

Perfect answer ^^^
1/2 inch realm is what I generally do.

Just because this is a trident there is an alternative. You can plant as deep as you like. Tridents are really good at growing new roots right at soil level which means they are likely to produce a new set of roots all just below soil level. I used this method for a few years to get better nebari on tridents in the grow beds. It is not 100% effective. Some will just grow a single thick root which sucks.
Root pruning all the deep roots and just leaving the best radial roots then planting so those roots are just buried is the best option but the leaves are already open so I would avoid hard root pruning now. Just plant so the higher roots are just covered and look at again next spring.
