Hello
First post here I'm Jason and live in Houston.
I bought a small bonsai from a little old man selling them out of his car.
I would like to know if anyone can tell me what it is and what I should do with it?
Thanks for any help I'm really excited and I am reading all I can to learn more..

It's a Procumbens Juniper (probably Procumbens Nana)...
It's basically a rooted cutting...

It looks like it's starting to grow now for the spring, I'd let it grow until summer.
Be careful to not over water it, the soil mix it's in appears to be high in organic material, which holds too much water and doesn't drain or dry properly....

You may be ok with that soil mix, but if it were mine, I'd wait for the "summer dormancy" period and repot into a free draining inorganic substrate, like pumice or diatomaceous earth.

Once it's growing in a free draining substrate, you'll have to water and fertilize more, but you won't run the risk of being too wet, and rotting your roots.

If you want it to be bigger, in the Trunk Dept, plant it in the ground for 10+ years....then check it out.

Welcome to the Nut House, enjoy your journey!

Don't keep it indoors or you'll kill it. Junipers are strictly outdoor bonsai. I made that mistake with my first one 25+ years ago. If you can keep it alive, you'll have fun with it. I picked up a procumbens recently myself, my first one.

It looks to be growing healthily. Keep it outdoors in a sunny position.

Junipers like it on the dry side.

Good luck!
