Help with cuttings please :)

You’re welcome! Get it used, it’s usually lots cheaper.
My last job was gifted 7-9th and I ran a summer STEM Environmental challenge leadership program for 5-12th graders. Hands on, Minds on stuff.
I retired from the former job recently, but still do the latter. Sadly, we had to cancel all summer programs this year due to the virus.

Both sound like amazing jobs - I've often wondered what it'd be like working with older ones... Not sure I'm tough enough! That is a real shame, fingers crossed next year will go ahead for you

You grow some great plants with your method. The JBP s I got from you a few months back are awesome.
Would love to know more about your propagation system. I know next to nothing about hydroponics and less still about aeroponics. I really want to learn. Nothing in my life gives me more pleasure than making baby plants. Is there a book or something that helped you get your setup going.

Thank you.It is great fun!
I learned everything (like last year) from Harly Smith Master Growers Course. The course will absolutely make you a plant GEEK👍
I recommend the entire video course.

the rest u can learn from my thread👍

I know it's just a generic, one of many, same old same old chinese elm... But it's MY generic, one of many, same old same old chinese elm 😊 and I've kept it alive for over two weeks now and I'm proud of that!

Oh and of course I'd be open to any suggestions on how to make it less 'samey'. I haven't looked into it yet - I'm sure there's tons of ideas on this forum :) just been focusing on keeping it alive and the odd bit of pruning!

Looking at it now, I don't really like the 's' shape too much, and I wouldn't choose it again. It's funny how your taste can change in a mere few weeks! But as my first tree of course I still love it :)

Gettin’ my “cutting game” swol, bro

I think it falls into the same absolutes that @Forsoothe! Was talking about in the calcined thread.

Just as an entire bonsai collection goes.

There is an equation for cutting that goes..

Space available + Time Available = ouput.

The extremes.

A guy who has infinite space, can just keep haphazardly plugging stuff into the soil and see if it works.

A guy who has little space, should move more towards using Hormones and such.

They can end up with the same energy output for energy gained. Proportionate to their available space and time. You can throw in necessary income and the individual equation changes. Becomes more complex.

I feel that, if income isn't necessary, the most success is found with quantity over quality.
Because "survival of the fittest" will provide for the best bonsai material moving forward.

"Extremely Tight budget" guy should hear that.

@penumbra I got a couple too and love em! I have to ask, did you keep yours in the root pouches? I foolishly tore those off without noticing the instructions he included. Mine are doing well though.

Me, too, JBP & Zelkova doing great!

I repotted them within a day or two into 8 inch round pond baskets. They are doing great.
