Hey there, so I got this juniper from an unmarked bag at a nursery over about 2 years ago, there wasn't any signs or anything saying what it was, I potted it up this year, I've tried to do some research but the only thing I've found was something called Shimpaku Golden but there is little to no info on that, the foliage is a like a variegated yellow and green.

Does look like shimpaku. A close up of foliage would help. 🙂

Looks like my itoigawa, but close up of foliage will definitely help.

It's a chinese (chinensis) juniper and for care specifics it doesn't really matter which variety it is! The foliage is super tight and I absolutely envy it!

What type of nursery was it - if it was just a 'regular' (non-bonsai specific nursery) then I think it's less likely to be shimpaku or itoigawa and more likely a chinensis sargentii - it looks very similar to mine and it's a close relative of shimpaku.

It still looks pliable and with a bit of bending it could be a great little mame/shohin.

I've posted this several times before on discussions about shimpaku.

The Juniperus chinensis subsp. sargentii is the base for shimpaku.
