Marine Bonsologist
Hello Everyone,
I've been a lurker for a few weeks and decided to register and get more invloved.
I'm pretty new to the bonsai hobby. I was given a bonsai as a young adult many years ago which promptly died because I didn't have the knowledge required or the patience at that time to care for it despite being sucessful with other types of plants.
I've been facinated by bonsai ever since but never quite brave enough to try again until last year. I've collected a few local pitch pine seedings and Japanese maple seedlings from a neighbors tree. I have them growing in pots for now, but I know they will be a very long time before they are ready to become bonsai. I've also been stalking all the local nurseries for stock that might make good specimens. So far I've found a mugo pine, scot pine and a couple of japanese maples that I've started working on. All are works in progress and will take time to develop. Meanwhile I've been accumulating some books and reading lots of internet articles and forums.
Sorry for the lengthy introduction but thought it would be good to let you know what stage I'm at in my bonsai adventure.
I look forward to some constructive discussions and learning a lot of things. Thank you for providing this venue to do so.
